Iran Government Has Closed the “Khana-e Kabul” Café in Tehran

Iranian media have reported that Iran the government closed the “Khana-e Kabul” café, which was operated by Afghan migrants in Tehran.

According to the Tasnim News Agency, this café was shut down due to the employment of Afghan refugees without residency and work permits and was a gathering place for illegal immigrants.

The news agency also reported that the closure of the business occurred after necessary investigations were conducted by the Islamic Republic’s Police. Iran police stated that the café had been operating without a work permit and had employed refugees without valid residency documents.

Employing and hiring migrants without residency and work permits in Iran has been criminalized, and those responsible face penalties such as fines or imprisonment.

In recent years, the Iranian government has adopted the strictest and most severe policies toward Afghan migrants and refugees, expelling hundreds of thousands of them and even engaging in the mass killing of migrants.
