Recently, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported that floods have damaged around 10,583 houses due to the recent heavy rains in the north, northeast and west of Afghanistan.
Based on this report, the floods at the end of last month destroyed about 150 houses in Baghlan province and caused extensive damage to other public infrastructures of this province.
This report also added about the destruction of more than two hectares of land in the western regions of the country and added that 5,500 families lost access to their livelihood activities in the north and northeast of the country.
In another part of the report of the High Commissioner for Refugees, it is stated that the province of Ghor and Baghlan suffered the most damage due to the floods, and only in the west of the country, more than 60 thousand families were affected by the floods.
This organization has recently said that it needs 14.6 million US dollars to support the flood victims and provide them with housing.
Recently, Bamyan Province has also witnessed floods. This natural phenomenon has left a lot of damage and casualties in Kahmard, Sighan, Panjab, Yakawlang and other areas of this province, and only in Yakawlang district, 7 people were killed and 10 were missing.
Afghanistan is a country where many natural events occur, and as a result, it suffers extensive casualties and damages. The United Nations has included this country in the list of the most vulnerable countries against climate change.
