The salaries of Working Men and Women in Afghanistan are Paid the Same

The reduction of salaries of women working in government offices by the caretaker government had provoked a lot of criticism, but recently the Ministry of Finance has announced that the salaries of women employees who are actually engaged in their duties in the offices will be paid the same as men.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance has emphasized that the number of female employees who do not go to work and are at home has decreased to five thousand Afghanis. It means employees who were banned from their duties after the fall of the previous government, but have not yet been dismissed and are receiving their salaries.

Ministry of Finance also informs about the payment of monthly salaries of female employees for month of Jawza.

With the issuance of the decree reducing the salary of working women to 5000 Afghanis, it was believed that all female employees were included in this decree. For this reason, a number of female employees, especially in the health sector, protested and other employees also criticized this order, calling it unfair.

Nevertheless, female employees who stay at home, including teachers, university professors and other departments, consider this amount of monthly salary insufficient to meet their living expenses.
