Small Businesses in Afghanistan Were Exempted from Taxes

The caretaker government of Afghanistan has recently announced that a number of guilds and small businesses have been exempted from paying taxes. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister, attended a press conference and said that according to the decree of Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzadah, guilds and businessmen who sell up to two million Afghanis per year are exempted from paying taxes.
Based on this decree, guilds and businessmen whose annual sales are more than two million Afghanis will pay 0.3% tax, while they were required to pay 0.5% tax until now. This means that this category of sellers has benefited from a tax discount of 0.2%.
Mohammad Nasir Akhund, Acting Minister of Finance, has also said that this decision was taken to provide comfort and well-being for the people and businessmen Afghanistan.
This is while before, a large number of citizens of the country, especially small businessmen and those whose income was low and could hardly meet their living expenses, criticized the amount of money that the government received from them and considered it unfair.
The current decision of the caretaker government regarding the tax exemption for guilds and small businessmen with a sales ceiling of two million Afghanis and tax discount for guilds with annual sales of more than two million Afghanis has been welcomed by the citizens of the country and it is useful for the development of their business.
