Qalandar Ebad, Acting Minister of Public Health, asked the United States to release the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan at the meeting of donor organizations held in Doha.
Mr. Ebad emphasized that the blocked reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan will be used to solve the problems of Afghanistan’s health system, and said that the release of these assets will be a positive step towards improving the health of children and mothers, independence and standardization of Afghanistan’s health system.
Acting Minister of Public Health has also stressed on the implementation of reforms in the Afghan health system and the provision of standard health services in villages and remote areas.
At the same time, Mr. Ebad requested the donor countries and the international community to consider the reduction of administrative costs in the projects they implement.
Afghanistan’s health system, which has been supported by donor countries for years, has faced many problems with the fall of the republican system and the establishment of the current caretaker government, which has resulted in the reduction of aids. In addition, it is said that a large number of specialists in the health sector have also left the country; an issue that has led to a decline in the quality of the health system. However, international organizations, including the United Nations, have resumed financial support for Afghanistan’s health system in order to prevent the collapse of the health system in Afghanistan.
However, the release of billions of dollars of blocked foreign currency reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, which has been implemented after the caretaker government came to power, will undoubtedly have a very positive impact if it is directly used in the Afghan health system.
