Qais Alizada, a young Afghan boxer, won the silver medal of the Asian Youth Championships. Alizada, who was in the final fight of eighty kilograms against the Kazakh boxer, was finally defeated and settled for the runner-up of his own weight.
In his first fight, Alizadah had defeated an opponent from India and qualified for the finals, but he lost the final match to avoid winning the gold medal.
However, this is the first silver medal of the Asian Youth Championship for Afghanistan after 29 years. Previously, in 1995, Javed Aman won the silver medal of the Asian boxing competition in the adult age category. However, Qais Alizadah is the second Afghan athlete to win a medal in boxing at the Asian level. Meanwhile, the first world boxing medal belongs to Amanullah Sahak, which he won about five months ago.
Qais Alizadah, along with six other Afghan boxers, is going to Thailand to participate in the Paris Olympic quota competition.
