OCHA: Food Security in Afghanistan is at Risk

  • UN humanitarian aid coordinator (OCHA), has announced that food security and livelihoods in Afghanistan are at risk. This organization has said by publishing a message that millions of Afghan citizens are threatened by the danger of food security.
  • The increase in heat, droughts and water shortage crisis are very serious issues that OCHA has mentioned as dangerous factors in Afghanistan.
  • Political problems, economic crisis, a dramatic increase in the unemployment rate, a sharp decrease in the income of citizens, and a drop in the quality of health services are very acute issues that the citizens of Afghanistan are facing, and because of this, their life expectancy and future have decreased.
  • Previously, the United Nations and other international aid organizations had warned about the increase in poverty, the increase in malnutrition in children, the death of mothers, and the lack of funds to deal with these problems.
  • The political developments and the change of the political system in Afghanistan, since three years, have caused the interruption or serious reduction of international aid to Afghanistan and have faced crisis and restrictions in various areas of people’s lives.
