Bakhtar Governmental News Agency, citing the Department of Statistics and Information of Bamyan Province, wrote that in 2023, about 52761 citizens of Bamyan received ID cards from that department, including 29800 electronic identification cards and 22961 paper ID cards.
It is stated in the report that about 700 applicants refer to Bamyan Provincial Statistics and Information Department to receive electronic and paper ID card services.
Based on this report, there is only one NID distribution center in Bamyan province. During the last year, this center has provided services such as correction of paper ID cards (3141 cases), vital events registration services (16362 cases), birth cards (961 cases) and issuance of death certificates (401 cases). About 1,624 citizens of Bamyan have also been provided services after the distribution of electronic ID cards.
The Department of Statistics and Information of Bamyan Province has not said anything about how many of the total population of Bamyan have received electronic ID cards so far.
This is despite the fact that after the administration of the caretaker government, the price of issuing an electronic ID card has increased sharply. In the past, the price of one piece of electronic NID was 100 AFN, but this cost first reached 300 AFN, in the next step it increased to 500 AFN, and in Asan Khidmat Department, 700 AFN is charged for the cost of one piece of e-tazkira. This may discourage a large number of citizens from getting an electronic ID card due to the extreme poverty in the society.
