Hazaras and Cultural Reductionism

For several years, May 19 has been celebrated as “Hazaras Culture Day” and programs are held on this occasion in a number of countries and cities around the world.
In the current year, this day was celebrated in a wider way than in previous years, and as a result, it was followed by words and arguments. Opponents widely criticized the way these programs were held and their content, and the organizers also defended themselves, and in this regard, some even went beyond logic and insulted and humiliated each other.
The reality of the matter, however, seems to be that the organizers of the programs on “Hazaras Culture Day” suffered from a kind of superficiality and reduced the rich culture full of constructive and useful social elements to “dance” and “dress”, while even in many of these programs, the type of clothes that were used and the type of dance that was performed did not match with the authentic clothes and dance of the Hazaras. Therefore, since the culture and cultural values as a collective matter and related to a large group of people are of special importance and should not be led astray, the criticisms on the organized programs should be examined and the programs should be diagnosed in order to experience the future of improvement and perfection.
First of all, those who are involved in the field of planning and implementation of programs related to Hazaras culture, should have extensive and complete studies in the field of Hazara culture and history and plan with full understanding of Hazara culture and history.
Any superficial action without full knowledge and awareness of the Hazara culture will cause cultural deviations to spread and cause irreparable damage to the authentic and rich culture of the Hazaras. By accepting that dance and clothes are only two elements of many cultural elements, it must be said that the dances of the Hazaras have had unique characteristics that are significantly different from what is performed by the current young generation and can be distorted. The clothes that are currently known as Hazaragi clothes due to the transformation of the clothing style in the current generation, do not have the original and historical features of the Hazara clothes and are designed according to the style of clothing accepted by the current generation. Therefore, these clothes only show a part of the historical culture of covering the Hazaras and are not able to fully introduce it to the world.
On the other hand, it is possible that the organizers of “Hazaras Culture Day” programs, who are mostly in the West and are experiencing a profound cultural transformation under the influence of the culture of those countries, may believe that they are “creating culture”. Considering this issue, this group should be active under the name of “culturalization”, not celebrating the culture of Hazaras, because these two things are completely different from each other and cannot be combined.
Also, every person has the right to be happy and create happiness by performing various dances or wearing desired clothes and live according to their wishes, but they never have the right to use cultural values under the name of glorifying Hazara culture, according to the act on their desires and beliefs and introduce the history and culture of Hazaras based on their personal tastes and beliefs and lead it astray.
There is a serious need for the Hazaras to become more active in the cultural field and by launching specialized and cultural expert discourses, to include expert and knowledgeable people in the process and to prevent possible harm by removing profit-seeking and ignorant people.
