Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, participating in the local discourse “Role of Scholars and Elders in Reducing Disrespectful Non-Shariah Rituals and Traditions” in Bamyan, emphasized that the mission of the Great Prophet of Islam led to the establishment of the rights and status of women in Quran and Islamic Sharia. He added that scholars and influential people have a religious responsibility and conscientious duty to seriously try to ensure the right and status of girls and women in matters such as the right to inheritance, the right to choose life, the right to dowry and social issues that have a high place in Quran and Islam, through awareness raising in pulpits and mosques, so that the people can be ready to accept it.
Mr. Sarhady, who spoke about the issues related to customs and cultural phenomena in the society from the point of view of Quran and Islam, considered cases such as paying exorbitant and heavy expenses in holding religious, cultural ceremonies, sadness and joy in the society as against the Sharia and the orders of the Islamic Sharia. And he asked the scholars to try as their duty to replace the wrong and disrespectful traditions in the society with the pure Islamic and Muhammadan customs and culture.
In another part of his speech, the governor of Bamyan pointed to the historical position of women and added: “In the era of ignorance and before the advent of the Great Prophet of Islam, oppression, terror and barbarism prevailed in the society. While women did not enjoy any position or rights, the birth of a girl child was considered a shame in the society. People even took away the right to live from girls and buried them alive, but with the mission of the great Prophet of Islam, the rights and position of women in Quran and Islamic law were established the heinous and inhumane act was declared against the Sharia and the Quran. Therefore, we do not have the same position as women in the religion of Islam in any religion.”
Mawlwi Sarhadi also asked scholars and community elders to work with sincerity and keeping in mind the principle of impartiality in solving ethnic and tribal conflicts and disputes and claims over property and similar issues in the society to create an atmosphere of peace and empathy among the people.
A local discourse under the name “The Role of Scholars and Elders in Reducing Unholy Customs and Traditions” was held today in Bamyan with the presence of local officials and a large number of scholars and influential people.
