With the approaching Muharram and Ashura, religious organizations organized a large gathering with the presence of local officials, religious scholars, and preachers in order to coordinate and organize the mourning days of Muharram and Imam Hossein as best as possible.
Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, who participated in the gathering, emphasized that the goals of Imam Hussain’s uprising and the oppression of the martyrs of Karbala should be correctly propagated among the people, and added: “The Ashura uprising and its goals are a model for the world of humanity, especially Muslims.” Therefore, it is the duty of the religious scholars and preachers to tell the people the facts and goals of Ashura uprising and the rules of religion in their correct form and to propagate and promote the way and school of Imam Hussain in the Islamic society.
The governor of Bamyan also highlighted the importance of the role of scholars in the society and said that religious scholars have a duty to convey religious orders and Sharia rules to the people in the right way so that the society is saved from superstitions and extremism and guided towards pure Islamic culture.
He emphasized that: “Only with correct education and correct expression of religious rules can a healthy society be created and away from extremism and superstitions.”
The mourning days of the first decade of Muharram are celebrated every year in Afghanistan and all Islamic countries with extensive programs.
