Bamyan Governor: “Bamyan’s Ancient Monuments Express the Civilization and Rich Culture of its People”

Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan Province, who was talking in the scientific-research seminar called “The Importance of Ancient and Historical Areas of Bamyan” which was held today August 04, 2024 in this province, called conducting such seminars effective and important in order to better introduce more and more historical areas for Bamyan province’s entertainment. Mr. Sarhadi also emphasized that the ancient monuments of Bamyan Province express the rich and progressive civilization and culture of these people in the past historical periods.

According to Bakhtar News Agency from Bamyan, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information and Culture, who participated in the seminar at the head of the government delegation, emphasized in his speech on the importance of research in the field of culture and art and said that scientists scholars and researchers of the country, with great effort and perseverance, have done worthy works, the results of which we are witnessing in the form of today’s seminar.

Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, in another part of his speech, stated his purpose of traveling to Bamyan is to encourage, persuade and support writers, painters and receive their suggestions and ideas in the field of tourism industry and introducing the history and culture of Bamyan. He mentioned historical sites and ancient monuments as national wealth and assets, and considered the preservation and maintenance of historical sites and monuments to be the duty and obligation of all citizens. He also reminded about the plans of the Ministry of Information and Culture regarding preservation and restoration of ancient and historical monuments of Bamyan.

Mawlawi Safiullah Raid, the head of information and culture of Bamyan, also mentioned Bamyan as one of the richest provinces in the country in terms of the existence of historical monuments and recreational areas and stressed on their preservation. While he considered historical monuments to be an expression of the identity, authenticity and pure culture of nations, he added that the Department of Information and Culture of Bamyan is implementing many programs for the preservation and order of historical monuments, the introduction of historical monuments and the development of the tourism industry of Bamyan.

The head of people’s culture in Ministry of Information and Culture also considered Bamyan as the cradle of civilization and called the protection of ancient monuments the duty of every citizen of the country.

Bamyan is one of the most ancient and historical regions of Afghanistan, which is now considered as one of the tourism hubs in the country and attracts hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every year. Also, several historical and ancient areas of this province, including the destroyed Buddha statues, have been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List and are world famous.
