The 63rd Quarterly Report of the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) by presenting its report to the US Congress, has explained how to spend 144 billion dollars for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
In this report, the United States continues to be the largest donor to Afghanistan and it is said that since the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan in August 2021, the United States has spent more than 17 billion dollars on aid to this country.
Funding of the Afghanistan Credit Fund, humanitarian aid and the acceptance of Afghan refugees are the cases in which this money has been used.
In this report, the interference of the caretaker government in the affairs of humanitarian assistance and distribution was also mentioned, and it was stated that only in February of this year, 81 cases of their interference were registered.
In addition to this, the suspension of 730 aid projects to Afghanistan was also mentioned due to the interference of the caretaker government.
Related to the question of whether the continuation of American humanitarian aid to Afghanistan will lead to the strengthening of the current government or not, a former member of the provincial council has been quoted as saying that the suicide bombers and their families benefit from American aid.
In another part of this report, it has been said that the Central Bank of Afghanistan has asked the United States to provide technical assistance to this department, but the American government has ruled this out due to legal and policy problems.
