Foreigners are banned in all mobile markets in Mashhad

With the decision of the Iranian government, all Afghan citizens are banned in all moving markets of Mashhad, the center of Khorasan Razavi province.
The decision has been announced by publishing and installing a notice at the entrance of Friday Weekly Bazaar of Mashhad. One of media in Mashhad quoted Hassan Kalidari, Director of Mashhad Municipality’s Urban Business Organization, wrote that the decision was made on the basis of the city’s social commission resolution and according to which foreigner’s activities under any title in all mobile markets of Mashhad is forbidden.
The action taken by Mashhad officials has received widespread reactions from Afghan citizens. A social media user, pointing out that Imam Reza is called as refugee’s refuge and Afghan citizens are also sent under the title of defenders of the shrine to Iranian proxy wars, has written ironically that “Defenders of Haram Do not approach the Haram.”
The number of foreigner registered in Mashhad reaches about half a million, and Afghan refugees form 95 percent of it. The economic activities of Afghan immigrants in Mashhad were also tangible before, and many Afghan sellers and businesspersons were involved in economic activities in various parts of the city.
However, according to Iranian media, Afghanistan is in the first rank of external investment throughout Iran, which means that the monetary capital of Afghan citizens plays a good role in the Iranian economy.
The ban on Afghan citizens’ economic activity in Mashhad is announce, while the Iranian government has started the process of detention and expulsion of all Afghan immigrants and refugees without residential documents in that country since the beginning of the year. More than half a million Afghan immigrants are expulsed from Iran so far.
