The BRICS member countries emphasized on the cancellation of the ban and restrictions on the education of girls in universities and schools above the sixth grade in Afghanistan.
The 16th BRICS meeting, which was held in the Kazan City of Russia, in its final statement called for the protection of the fundamental rights of all Afghan citizens, including women, girls and ethnic groups, and emphasized that urgent humanitarian aid should continue to Afghanistan.
The BRICS statement supported Afghanistan as a united and peaceful country and a land away from war, terrorism and drugs and demanded that an immediate and peaceful solution should be sought for the problem of Afghanistan in order to ensure the stability and security of the region.
Fighting against terrorism has also been on the agenda of BRICS meeting, and in this regard, it has been emphasized on the implementation of more verifiable and visible measures in Afghanistan to ensure that terrorists do not use Afghanistan’s soil.
At the same time, Afghanistan is also interested in developing relations with the BRICS member countries, and one of the caretaker government’s spokespersons welcomed the inclusion of Afghanistan in BRICS meeting and considered it useful.
In the past, Afghanistan was accepted as an observer member in BRICS, but after the fall of the previous government, it was not invited to its meetings.
BRICS is a group of countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China, Russia and South Africa, that its first idea was formed in 2001 and its first official meeting was held in 2009.
Since then, this group has held its annual meetings regularly and expanded its cooperation to various political, economic and cultural fields. The creation of a new development bank and precautionary arrangements for financial reserves are among the achievements of BRICS, which shows its serious determination to play a more important role in the global economy.
The most important discussion in BRICS is the creation of a common currency, which aims to reduce dependence on the US dollar.
