“Breaking the neck” and brutal and inhumane treatment of Iranian police officers with a young Afghan refugee and immigrant, once again exposed the way Iranian people and government deal with immigrants, especially Afghan refugees.
Media coverage of the Iranian police’s inexcusable treatment of “Sayed Mahdi”, an Afghan immigrant living in Tehran, and the feedback it had in the virtual space, forced Iranian statesmen and officials to react; a reaction that, as usual, seeks to hide the existing historical facts and, as always, covers up the divisive and illogical behavior of Iranians.
Iranian authorities have called “anti-immigration” as “foreigner’s project” and mentioned brotherhood, equality and common Islamic values between Afghanistan and Iran. Such secretive comments are, of course, very common among the two neighboring countries. In Afghanistan, all the shortcomings and social, political and economic problems are transferred to foreigners, aliens and others, and no internal factor is considered guilty or responsible.
What is happening to the homeless Afghan refugees in Iran and has been common for many years, is not hidden from anyone, and denying it is like denying the sun in the middle of the day.
Who doesn’t know that an Afghan citizen does not even have his human dignity in Iran’s courts and does not enjoy any civil and human rights? Is Iran’s judicial system in the hands of foreigners and they are implementing their project?
Who can deny that Iranian citizens have had and still have the highest level of violence, insults, humiliation, beatings, and cursing against Afghan immigrants? Is this type of behavior in different layers of Iranian society affected by the alien’s project?
In the last one or two years, several times, immigrant neighborhoods in Iran were attacked by Iranians and suffered a lot of damage. To what extent have these “foreigners” infiltrated among Iranians that they can organize a group attack against immigrants?
Everyone knows the situation of the migrant camps in Iran. Physical and mental torture of detained refugees is the first priority of camp officials. You can’t find the minimum amenities in the camps. The state of cleanliness and hygiene is at the lowest possible level, and spending a few nights in such an environment paints hell as a better habitat in the minds of human beings captured in the camp. Nevertheless, are the camps of the Islamic Republic run by aliens, so that we consider such a process as a product of the aliens’ project?
Even at the borders and airports of the Islamic Republic, the way officials and employees deal with Afghan passengers is very different compared to other foreign passengers. Most of them look down on Afghan travelers and show insulting behavior. Is this all an “alien project”?
Although the use of the word “Afghani” for an Afghan citizen is literary incorrect, but this word is used by almost all Iranians, including the leader of the Islamic Republic, for Afghan immigrants, and it clearly carries the burden of humiliation and insult. Is such a racist act even by Mr. Khamenei himself, a project of aliens?
It is better for the Islamic Republic, which claims to be the leader of the Islamic world and always mentions Islamic and human values, instead of accusing others, it should think about matching its words and actions, so that humanity and human values are not humiliated and trampled on.
