Afghan national futsal players, who have won the license to participate in the Asian Nations Cup for the first time, have made their last efforts so that they can enter these battles with full preparation and a calculated plan.
In the course of the preparatory programs announced by the country’s football federation in March 2024, the country’s national futsal team participated in the international quadrilateral competition of Thailand at the beginning of the new year and after playing four games against the host Thailand, Malaysia and Australia, got the third place in the tournament.
Two games with Myanmar, which followed one victory and one defeat, was another part of the country’s national futsal team’s preparatory program. Later, Khorasan Lions returned to the venue of the Asian Nations Cup, in Thailand to continue the process.
Majid Mortezaei’s students beat Thailand’s national futsal team 5-3 in the preparatory games. Another achievement of Khorasan Lions was a 7-3 win against Chon Buri Club from the Thai Futsal League. A 4-2 victory against Tajikistan and two draws against Saudi Arabia and China were the last preparatory games of the Afghanistan national futsal team.
And now Khorasan Lions has reached the final station; Where the most important futsal competition in Asia is going to start in 4 days. In this tournament, which is scheduled to be held from April 17 to 28, 2024, with the participation of the top 16 teams in Asia in 4 groups of 4 teams in Thailand, Afghanistan has been grouped with the teams of Iran, Bahrain and Kuwait in Group D.
The country’s national futsal team is scheduled to play Iran on April 18, Kuwait on April 20, and Bahrain on April 22 to determine the fate of the group winners.
Considering the good shine that has been observed from the national futsal team in recent years, it can be said that Afghanistan can appear as a surprise in this competition. In the past, Afghan Futsal Players have been able to defeat many countries participating in the competition. Therefore, there is a lot of hope that Afghanistan can easily climb out of its group and reach the higher stages of the competition and finally get a worthy position.
