The international organization CRS has distributed cash assistance to 1,077 vulnerable and deserving families in central and Yakawlang districts of Bamyan province.
Bamyan Provincial Disaster Management Department announced in a press release that this assistance was provided under the “Strengthening Afghan Community Resilience through Improved Use of Natural Resources and Watershed Restoration” project, implemented by CRS.
According to the newsletter, villages covered under this program include Khak Chagheer, Halwa Qol, Shirdoosh, Seh Pakhsa, Dooborja, Jawshank, Sang Sorakh, Chahar Dewari, Monar, Lar-r Bozan, Bargut, Katakala, and Namdak in Yakawlang district, as well as Dokani1, Dokani 2, Orgash, and Jawzari in the central district of Bamyan.
The report states that poor and disadvantaged families were previously surveyed and identified by the Bamyan Provincial Disaster Management Department and CRS. Subsequently, each family member received 1,242 Afghanis (equivalent to $17.63 USD) in cash. The total amount received by each family varied depending on the number of family members.
It was noted that the total amount distributed to the 1,077 families, comprising 6,893 individuals, amounted to 8,616,519 Afghanis.
Bamyan is among the provinces where poverty and vulnerability levels are high, with a significant portion of the population in urgent need of cash and food assistance.
