Amir Alizada, a worthy Taekwondo athlete of Afghanistan, managed to become the runner-up of the ITF Taekwondo World Championships.
Afghanistan’s Department of Physical Education and Sports has reported that this athlete participated in the competition at the weight of 59 kg and finally won the silver medal.
Along with Amir Alizada, Rahmatullah Habibi, another Afghan taekwondo player, also participated in the competition, but he failed to win a medal and withdrew from the competition.
The ITF Taekwondo World Cup was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the participation of more than 1,200 athletes from 20 countries, and as the result North Korean taekwondo players took first place, Russia became the runner-up, and the host Uzbekistan finished third.
Also, Sayed Ruhollah Hossaini, Vice President of Afghanistan ITF Taekwondo Federation, who went to these competitions with our country’s two-person team, received Grade (Dan) four ITF Taekwondo Certificates from the International Federation of this discipline. In addition, the International Taekwondo Federation ITF awarded a gold medal to Grandmaster Eid Mohammad Shirzai, who is recognized as the father and founder of Taekwondo ITF in Afghanistan.
Amir Alizada’s silver medal is Afghanistan’s first medal from the ITF World Taekwondo Championships and is considered a great honor for the Afghan sports community.
