More Than 37 Thousands Acres of Usurped Government Land Was Returned

The governmental Commission for Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of State Lands has said that it has returned 37,429 acres of state land in 12 provinces of the country.

Bakhtar News Agency has reported, quoting the Ministry of Justice of the caretaker government, that these lands, after conducting an investigation by the technical committees to prevent land grabbing during the month of October in the provinces of Herat, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Takhar, Parwan, Ghor, Panjshir, Laghman, Sarpol, Samangan, Badghis and Maidan Wardak have been confirmed and handed over to the relevant organizations.

It is stated in the report that Takhar province has the largest amount of reclaimed land, which includes about ten thousand acres of land.

The report adds that during the current month, the said commission has confirmed about 522 thousand and 940 acres of government land in 24 provinces of Afghanistan and 787 thousand and 711 acres of land have been examined in 31 provinces of the country in order to determine whether among the lands have been usurped by the government or not.

The process of investigation, stabilization and restitution of government lands continues throughout Afghanistan, and the cases of thousands of acres of usurped government land are under the review of the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing.

The usurpation of government land is one of the important problems that has existed in Afghanistan since the past until now. It is said that during the previous governments in the last twenty years, government officials, powerful people and other people have usurped thousands of acres of government land.
