The Blue Tigers Reached the Semi-Finals of the T20 World Cup

Afghanistan national cricket team, which joined the top eight teams in the first round of the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 with three wins and one loss, reached the semi-finals of the tournament with two wins and one loss.

Afghanistan’s success in the quarter-finals was achieved by defeating the powerful Australian team, which has won the 50-over World Cup last year.

The match against Australia, which was held at the St. Vincent Stadium in the West Indies, started with Afghanistan bowling first, and this team scored 148 after losing six players in their twenty overs, while Australia lost all their players and scored only 127 runs.

Gulbuddin Naib, the vice-star of the Afghanistan national team, appeared brilliantly in this game and single-handedly managed to score the result in Afghanistan’s favor by throwing out the main players of the opposing team.

The Blue Tigers, in the quarter-final stage, although were defeated in the first battle against the powerful Indian team, but after defeating Australia, they faced Bangladesh and defeated this team with full authority.

In this game, Afghanistan started bowling first and after twenty overs, they set a target of 115 runs for Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladeshi could not reach the set goal by losing all its players and lost by 8 runs.

Naveenul Haq and Rashid Khan were the shining stars of Afghanistan in this game by taking four wickets each. Fazal Haq Farooqi and Golbodin Naib also took one wicket each of the opposing team and played a significant role in Afghanistan’s victory.

Due to Australia’s defeat against India, Afghanistan placed second in its group after India and for the first time in its history, made its way to the semi-finals of the 2024 World T20.

In order to reach the finals of the competition, the national team of our country is going to face South Africa in the semi-finals.
