The Salaries of Female Employees of Afghan Government Offices Were Reduced to Five Thousand AFN

Recently, a letter attributed to the head of the government affairs department has been published in the media, which shows that the salaries of female employees in Afghan government offices have been set at five thousand Afghanis.

In this letter, it is said that this action was done by the order of Mullah Hebatullah, the leader of Afghanistan’s caretaker government, and after that, all female employees who were appointed during the previous government will receive the same salary.

It is stated in the official letter that all female employees who were employed in government offices in the previous government and currently receive their salaries from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, all their salaries in all budgetary and non-budgetary units, should be determined by the amount of five thousand Afghanis.

With the fall of the previous regime and the establishment of the current caretaker government, thousands of female employees who were busy performing their duties in government offices were not allowed to attend government offices, but they continue to receive their salaries.

Equalizing and reducing the salaries of female employees of government offices has raised concerns, because many of these women may be the sole breadwinners of their families, and the five thousand Afghanis they receive is not enough to cover the heavy living expenses.
