Abduljaber Ansar, the Consul General of Afghanistan in Mashhad, Iran, who was recently dismissed by the caretaker government and whose signature was considered invalid, has rejected the decision to dismiss him. He, who has remained in this position since the time of the previous government, by not accepting the ruling of the Foreign Ministry of the caretaker government, said that this government did not appoint him and cannot issue a ruling to dismiss him.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel of Afghan Consulate in Mashhad also issued a message that the consular services in the office continue without any interruptions and disruptions as before and there will be no legal obstacles in the way of providing services to citizens. In a part of this message, the restriction imposed by the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government on the Afghan consulate in Mashhad was called unprofessional, illegal and invalid.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan has published a statement and said that until a new diplomat is sent and assumes the responsibility of the consulate, one of the current diplomats of this office will be in charge of it. In this statement, it is stated that Mr. Ansar interferes in the affairs of this consulate and after his dismissal, he does not enjoy diplomatic privileges and immunities, and his signature is not valid.
The removal of the Consul General of Afghanistan in Mashhad has also caused reactions among the officials of Iran and Afghanistan. Earlier, the spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Naser Kanani, said that any changes in the Afghan consular staff in Mashhad should be done in accordance with the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government has said that terminating the duties of diplomats and recalling them is within the jurisdiction of the sending country and is considered a common practice in international relations.
Last year, with the approval of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Afghan embassy was handed over to the caretaker government, and after that, Fazl Mohammad Haqqani and a seven-member delegation took over the affairs of this embassy.
