Devastating Floods in Baghlan and Conflicting Statistics of Casualties

While the terrible and devastating floods have covered many parts of Baghlan province, including the vicinity of Pul Khomri city and the districts of Khost and Farang, Barka, Nahrin, and Gozargah-e Noor, and have left many casualties and damages, various institutions, have reported various statistics and figures about the casualties and damages of this natural event.
The local government of Baghlan province has reported the number of dead to be 130 and the number of wounded to be100. Meanwhile, the World Food Program has said in a report that more than 300 people have died in this event, but the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has said that the number of dead is at least 200. Nevertheless, local sources have reported the death toll of this event at around 400 people.
The damage caused by the flood in Baghlan is also very extensive. Local authorities have reported the destruction of more than a thousand residential houses, thousands of acres of agricultural land, and the loss of hundreds of livestock and animals.
After this event, which caused widespread international reactions, many calls from inside and outside the country to collect aid for the flood victims were published, and a number of institutions have also provided their immediate aid to the area.
Government institutions, including the Ministry of Defense, have also rushed to rescue the victims of the accident using the available facilities, including military helicopters.
On the other hand, the economic deputy of the prime minister has also gone to Baghlan province and coordinated how to provide aid to the victims by holding urgent meetings.
Every year, with the arrival of spring and the increase of monsoon rains, many areas of Afghanistan fall victim to floods and suffer a lot of casualties and damages.
