Three Local Journalists Were Summoned and Arrested in Khost

Afghan Journalists Centre published a newsletter and wrote that the Department of Enjoining good and forbidding evil of Khost province has arrested three local journalists.
Based on this news report, Ismail Saadat, reporter of Naz Radio, Vahidullah Masoom, reporter of Iqra Radio, and Ehsanullah Tasel, reporter of Voice of the People Radio, are three journalists who were arrested on Monday.
In this newsletter, publishing music and calling female listeners are mentioned as accusations against these people.
According to the news report, the arrested journalists were summoned to the Khost Enjoining good and forbidding evil department on the morning of April 22, 2024, and then on the same day, they were transferred to the police headquarter of this province and are still in prison.
The Afghan Journalists Center continues to announce the confirmation of the arrest of these three people by the Department of Enjoining good and forbidding evil in the WhatsApp group of that department with journalists, and writes from the words of the officials of the Department of Enjoining good and forbidding evil in Khost that the media had been advised many times not to publish any background music and call women in entertainment programs is prohibited, but nevertheless, a number of media violated it and were sentenced to prison and will be brought to court for legal violations in the future.
Afghan Journalists Center further considers the summoning and arrest of local journalists in Khost only because of broadcasting music in the background of programs and making phone calls with girls as an illegal act and against the law of public media and demands their immediate and unconditional release.
AFJC has expressed its concern regarding the possibility of increasing interference in the affairs of free media and increasing work restrictions on them through extra-legal instructions and wants these instructions to be canceled and the rights of journalists and media to be respected based on the law of public media.
