United Nations Warning: “About 16 Million People Are Facing Food Insecurity in Afghanistan”

In its latest report, the United Nations has warned that in 2024, around 15.8 million Afghan citizens will face severe food insecurity.
In this report, Indika Ratwathe, the coordinator of the humanitarian aid of the United Nations in Afghanistan, said that millions of people across the country do not have the ability to meet the basic needs of their lives.
Ratawateh also said: “The people of Afghanistan currently consider access to food as their most essential need. Millions of people in this country who do not have the ability to prepare their own food are facing hunger and malnutrition. In 2024, About 15.8 million people will face food insecurity crises and emergencies.
He also said that with the start of the next chapter in 2024, the United Nations will remain committed to its commitments regarding human rights and equal access to education in Afghanistan and will have women as key partners in its programs.
At the same time, the United Nations, citing a Gallup Institute survey, has stated that the average life expectancy among Afghan citizens has decreased in the last five years, and about 95 percent of the citizens of this country find themselves in suffering and mental problems.
The caretaker government, however, considers the increase in natural events and the forced deportation of Afghan immigrants from neighboring countries as the main factors for the increase in poverty in the country. The caretaker government officials have also said that before the current government came to power, problems such as unemployment were at a high level, but Afghanistan has made great economic progress during their time and large economic projects have provided work and employment for a large number of citizens.
Previously, major international organizations had expressed their concern about the increase in the crisis of poverty and food insecurity, as well as the problems in Afghanistan’s health system, and called for more attention to Afghanistan’s situation.
