Nineteen Prisoners Were Released from Bamyan Prison

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, 19 prisoners, including 4 women, were released from the central prison of Bamyan province.
The press department of the Bamyan governor has published a newsletter that today, Monday, April 8, 2024, these prisoners were released from the central prison of Bamyan, based on the order of Shaikh Hebatullah Akhundzadah, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, during an official ceremony attended by the local authorities of the province.
The newsletter also stated that the imprisonment and punishment of 11 other prisoners were reduced from one month to one year.
According to the news report, Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadhi, the governor of Bamyan, while reminding that the Islamic Emirate wants to reform the society, addressed the released prisoners and said: “The purpose of the Islamic Emirate was not to punish you, but to reform you and teach others and we are all pleased and happy that you included the general amnesty of the leader of the Islamic Emirate.”
The governor of Bamyan still asked the released prisoners to try to be a good example for their society and country and try to reform undesirable people.
Based on the information in the newsletter, these prisoners were arrested by the security organizations for various crimes and each of them spent from 4 months to 2 years in prison.
Thousands of prisoners from different prisons in Afghanistan, based on the order of Shaikh Hebatullah Akhundzadah on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, have been released and returned to their families and society.
